Josh Henry begins his eighth year as Carthage's head men's cross country coach, and seventh year as the head men's track & field coach in 2021-22 after serving as an assistant track coach in 2014-15. Henry was an assistant men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach for five years at the State University of New York-Cortland from 2009 to 2013.
Henry has guided the Carthage track & field team to ten school records (eight individual, two relay). Carthage has claimed third-place finishes at the 2016 and 2017 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships under Henry's guidance. He guided Carthage to third-place finishes at the 2016, 2017 and 2018 CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Henry's efforts at Carthage resulted in six (five individual, one relay) national indoor qualifiers, and four national outdoor qualifiers. He guided Carthage to nine CCIW individual indoor championships, and six CCIW individual outdoor championships. Henry has coached two COSIDA Academic All-Americans, three COSIDA Academic All-District honorees and 14 USTFCCCA Individual All-Academic selections throughout his Carthage tenure.
As part of the SUNY-Cortland coaching staff, Henry was involved in recruiting and coaching nine U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Americans, 14 national qualifiers, five national cross country qualifying teams, one individual Atlantic Region cross country champion, 33 all-region honorees and 119 State University of New York Athletic Conference scorers in track and field.
Henry attended SUNY Cortland and earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honors in 2008 as a member of the Red Dragon’s national-championship team. He was also a three-time all-conference honoree in track and field, a three-time national qualifier in the 10,000-meter run, a two-time national qualifier in the 5,000-meter run and a three-time USTFCCCA all-academic pick.
Henry received his bachelor’s in sport management from SUNY Cortland in 2009 and a master's degree, also from SUNY Cortland, in sport management in 2010. He is a USA Track & Field Level I certified coach. Henry also holds certifications with the USTFCCCA in Endurance Event Specialization, and Strength & Conditioning.
